Most weather warnings for the storm in Eastern Ontario were lifted on Monday evening, following a series of strong storms that raised concerns among residents throughout the area.
The Canadian Environment Ministry issued a tornado warning at 3:20 PM that included Kemptville, Merrickville, and other nearby communities.
The warning was lifted about half an hour after it was issued.
A brief tornado warning was also issued for an area along the St. Lawrence River between Morrisburg and Long Sault.
It is still unclear whether any tornadoes actually touched down.
Later in the afternoon, the severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa was lifted, while warnings remained in effect in several communities east of the city and along the St. Lawrence River.
Ottawa experienced heavy rainfall on Monday morning as an unstable weather system moved through the area.
The Canadian Environment Ministry reported that Ottawa Airport recorded 25.1 mm of rain from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, while Gatineau Airport recorded 33 mm during the same period.
Weather Forecast for Ottawa
The Canadian Environment Ministry is forecasting a 40% chance of scattered showers this evening with the possibility of thunderstorms, with temperatures dropping to 16 degrees Celsius at night.
On Tuesday, the weather is expected to be a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures rising to 26 degrees Celsius, and a humidex of 32, while the ultraviolet index reaches 9, which is very high.
Forecasts for Wednesday indicate partly cloudy weather with a 30% chance of rain, and temperatures rising to 27 degrees Celsius.
It is noted that the normal average temperature for this time of year is about 26 degrees Celsius.
