Canadian weather network forecasts indicate that Canada is preparing for a warm summer above seasonal averages in most parts of the country, though this warmth may bring significant environmental challenges, the most prominent of which are drought risks and increased chances of wildfires.
According to the report issued by "The Weather Network," the next three summer months—June, July, and August—will see temperatures above normal, especially in the western and central parts of the country, including British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Experts confirm that this warm weather pattern may exacerbate drought conditions in areas that are already suffering from precipitation deficits, raising the level of readiness for an early and more intense wildfire season.
In the east of the country, including Ontario and Quebec, hot weather is also expected, but with greater chances of intermittent rainfall, which may partially alleviate the severity of the drought, although dry periods are still likely.
Experts warn that "the warmth of the weather may seem welcome after a long winter, but it could become a major challenge for water resources and ecosystems if weather conditions are not balanced with rainfall."
This report comes at a time when concerns are increasing about the impacts of climate change on weather stability in Canada, particularly with the recurrence of severe fire seasons in recent years, and increased pressure on firefighting departments and emergency resources.
Authorities advise residents, especially in rural and semi-forested areas, to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions in preparation for a summer that may be "warmer than it should be."
