Toronto will witness a significant rise in temperatures on Tuesday, with the expected feels-like temperature reaching around 30 degrees Celsius, as the first warm wave of this level for the season begins.
According to the Canadian Environmental Agency, the warm air mass coming from the south will lead to a gradual increase in temperatures starting from Tuesday morning, peaking in the afternoon, with high humidity levels that may enhance the sensation of heat.
The authorities have warned about the effects of the heat on vulnerable groups, especially the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses, urging residents to drink plenty of water and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak hours.
This wave comes after a long period of fluctuating weather, and it is an indicator that the city is truly entering the summer season. Warm conditions are expected to last for several days before temperatures return to seasonal averages over the weekend.
It is worth mentioning that the City of Toronto has announced its readiness to activate emergency plans for hot weather if necessary, including opening public cooling centers for residents who do not have suitable means of air conditioning in their homes.
