The civil protection forces in Giza Governorate, Egypt, managed to control a fire that broke out at Al-Ahram Studio after completing the filming of one of the drama works, and cooling operations are now underway to prevent the fire from reigniting.

According to Al-Hurra channel, sources reported that 7 people were injured due to the fire, some from the civil protection department and others from citizens who were present at the scene of the incident. The sources added that the injuries ranged between burns, fractures, and suffocation cases, and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals from the site of the incident.

The detectives at the Giza Security Directorate are intensifying investigations to uncover the circumstances of the fire outbreak and clarify the cause of the ignition. Statements were taken from a number of eyewitnesses, studio workers, in addition to residents of the buildings adjacent to the fire site, to which the fire spread.

The massive fire broke out in Al-Ahram Studio in the Omraneya district, the largest neighborhood in Giza Governorate, during the early hours of Saturday morning, and the extent of the losses resulting from it has not yet been determined.

Immediately after receiving a report at the Giza Emergency Room indicating the outbreak of the fire, 15 fire trucks headed to control it, and the number of ambulances was doubled after the fire spread to four buildings adjacent to the studio. The fire caused a power outage in the incident area, and the Governor of Giza directed the evacuation of all surrounding buildings to protect the residents' safety.

The fire consumed the set of the series "The Teacher," starring the actor Mustafa Shaaban, which is currently airing on several Egyptian satellite channels and whose filming has not yet finished.

In the first statement by the drama director to local media, Marcus Adel said that all members of the crew had left the studio minutes before the fire broke out, which was confirmed by the series lead, Mustafa Shaaban, in his statements, affirming the safety of the crew and that they all left the studio.

Meanwhile, the actor Tarek Al-Nahri, who stars in the series, indicated that only the filming equipment was saved, but the fate of filming the remaining days of the series has not been determined.

This fire incident at filming locations is the second within less than a month, after a fire broke out at the filming site of the series "Al-Kabeer Awy," which is currently airing in the Ramadan drama season, and the fire was controlled without human losses.

Al-Ahram Studio is one of the oldest cinema studios in Egypt, as it was established during World War II, specifically in 1944, by the Greeks Afakhlos Aframosis and Paris Belvis, on an area of 27,000 square meters. Al-Ahram Studio includes 3 sound stages (filming locations), a screening hall, and a dubbing hall, in addition to the developing and printing lab.

More than 450 artistic works have been filmed in the studio.
