In second place is Joseph Tsai, Vice Chairman of the Chinese company "Alibaba," who holds Canadian citizenship, with a net worth estimated at 9.5 billion dollars.
The list also includes prominent figures such as:
Tobias Lütke, founder of "Shopify," with a fortune of nearly 5.9 billion dollars.
Galen Weston and his family, owners of the "Loblaws" and "Nordstrom Canada" store chains, with a fortune of 8.4 billion dollars.
Eileen Bennett, founder of "Lightspeed," among the leading women in the list.
Background:
The list comes at a time when the Canadian economy is undergoing sharp changes due to trade tensions with the United States and rising living costs, while Canada's wealthy continue to show a remarkable ability to grow their fortunes, particularly in the sectors of technology, distribution, and financial services.
According to "Forbes," the number of billionaires worldwide this year reached 2,781, a record increase from 2024, while the total value of their wealth is around 14.2 trillion dollars.
