Toronto – Arab Canada News
The Canadian Environmental Agency has issued an official warning of a severe heat wave affecting the Toronto area starting Saturday and continuing into Sunday evening, with significant temperature increases and high humidity levels expected.
The agency stated in a statement that temperatures will range between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius during the day, with temperatures feeling like they may exceed 40 degrees Celsius due to the high humidity.
Public Health Tips:
– Residents are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak times.
– Drink sufficient amounts of water and avoid beverages containing caffeine and alcohol.
– Stay in air-conditioned places and check on neighbors and the elderly.
– Do not leave children or pets inside vehicles parked in the sun.
Most Affected Groups:
Infants, the elderly, individuals with heart and respiratory conditions, and those who work or exercise outdoors are at greater risk of heat stress or heat stroke.
The Canadian Environmental Agency clarified that nighttime temperatures will not drop significantly, which may increase the difficulty of recovering from heat stress at night.
Everyone is advised to follow weather updates and adhere to safety guidelines throughout the warning period.
