Montreal – Arab Canada News

The Canadian authorities announced on Tuesday the discovery of the bodies of three people who were missing after a medical helicopter belonging to "Airmedic" crashed in a remote area north of Quebec last weekend.

The police confirmed that search and rescue teams were able to locate the wreckage and recover the bodies of the three victims, who were on board the helicopter during its medical evacuation mission. Their identities have not yet been officially disclosed, pending notification of the families.

The helicopter had disappeared from radar on Saturday evening while flying over a densely forested area near Baie Saint Laurent, prompting a large-scale search operation with the involvement of the Canadian Armed Forces, air rescue teams, and several aircraft and helicopters.

In an official statement, Airmedic expressed its "deep sorrow" and offered its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and their colleagues, praising the "dedication and professional commitment of the crew in conducting difficult missions."

Currently, a joint investigation is ongoing between the Canadian Transportation Safety Board (TSB) and local authorities to determine the causes of the incident, while a temporary suspension of some of the company’s air operations has been announced until further notice.
