Photojournalist at Anadolu Agency, Shabnam Jushqoon, won an award in an independent short film competition in Toronto, Canada, through a documentary film she directed and the agency produced.
The Toronto Independent Short Film Competition presented its awards for this year, announced on Tuesday, within multiple categories participating with local and international works.
Jushqoon managed to win the "Best Independent Short Film" award through the documentary “The World of the Melting Polar Bears.”
The documentary addresses the challenges faced by polar living creatures due to climate change and the necessary solutions in this context.
It also explains how polar bears, ringed seals in the Arctic, and emperor penguins in Antarctica are affected by global climate change.
The film includes studies by Turkish experts participating in the seventh scientific expedition to Antarctica and the third scientific expedition to the Arctic in 2023.
The scientific expeditions are coordinated by the Polar Research Institute, part of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey "TUBITAK," sponsored by the Presidency, and supervised by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
