Belgian authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Canadian citizen who suffered a sudden health crisis during his participation in the famous “Tomorrowland” music festival held annually in the city of Boom.
Police reports indicated that the 27-year-old man felt severely unwell on Sunday morning and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he passed away shortly after his arrival. The exact cause of death has not yet been determined, and the case is subject to a forensic autopsy by order of the public prosecutor.
In an official statement, the organizers of the “Tomorrowland” festival expressed their “deep sorrow” over the death of the Canadian participant and offered their condolences to his family and friends, confirming their full cooperation with authorities as part of the ongoing investigations.
It is worth noting that the “Tomorrowland” festival is one of the most prominent electronic music events in the world, attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees annually from different countries. Its latest edition witnessed heavy participation amid strict security and medical measures.
This Canadian death is the only reported case during the current edition of the festival, while Belgian authorities continue investigations to determine whether there were any external or health-related factors connected to the incident.
