The Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed in an extensive report that nearly 100,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have died since October 7, 2023, either directly as a result of Israeli attacks or due to the indirect effects of what the newspaper described as a “policy of genocide.”
The newspaper described the ongoing war as “the deadliest of the 21st century,” noting that the casualty figures place the conflict in an unprecedented tier in terms of civilian death toll.
Haaretz also cited an independent international research team confirming that the number of casualties far exceeds what the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported, reflecting the scale of the humanitarian disaster that surpasses the official figures circulating.
This report comes at a time when Israeli military operations continue, amid UN and international warnings of a complete collapse of the humanitarian and health system in the region, and increasing calls for an immediate ceasefire.
