The Peel Regional Police announced that they have arrested one person and are searching for another after the theft of two luxury cars valued at approximately $750,000 from a car rental company in the city of Brampton.
The police stated in a statement issued today, Thursday, that the incident occurred on April 9, when two individuals arrived at the company's location in the area of Steeles Avenue and Dixie Road, where they managed to steal two luxury vehicles.
According to investigators, the suspects rented the vehicles using fake identities, then left the city with the cars, and did not return them as agreed in the contract.
During the investigation, the Peel Police's Auto Theft Unit was able to identify one of the suspects and arrest him. He has been charged with several offenses, including possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, and using forged documents.
The authorities are still searching for the second suspect and have urged anyone with information related to the case to contact the investigators or provide information anonymously through the “Crime Stoppers” service.
The police confirmed that investigations are still ongoing as part of broader efforts to combat luxury vehicle thefts in the Greater Peel area.
