The Canadian federal police announced that they have opened a wide investigation after several airports across the country received threats of explosive devices on Wednesday, leading to heightened security and precautionary search procedures.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed that they received simultaneous reports of threats targeting aviation facilities in multiple provinces, including British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. The police stated that the reports caused limited evacuations and partial disruptions to flights in some locations, but no explosive materials have been found so far.

An official statement said:

“We take all reports very seriously. At this stage, there is nothing to indicate a real threat to the safety of passengers or staff.”

The authorities clarified that bomb disposal experts worked with local airport security to secure buildings, review cameras, and communicate with airlines.

No group had claimed responsibility for the threats by Wednesday evening, while the police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the communications and the background of the reports.

The airport authority advised travelers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport, noting that most operations resumed normally after a few hours of security checks.
