The Toronto police announced that they are investigating an attempted kidnapping incident that occurred in broad daylight in the North York area, where witnesses reported that several suspects attempted to abduct a person at gunpoint.
According to the police statement, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon, around 12:30 PM, near the intersection of Finch and Yonge streets. The authorities said that the victim was walking on the sidewalk when a car stopped near him, and several people got out, one of whom was armed, and they tried to force him into the vehicle.
According to investigators, the victim managed to escape from the scene, while the suspects fled. There were no reports of injuries.
The police released a general description of the suspects and the vehicle, and are continuing efforts to gather evidence, including reviewing surveillance cameras in the area.
The authorities called on anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the major crimes unit, noting that the investigation is still in its early stages.
It is worth mentioning that the incident has raised concern among local residents, especially given that it occurred in a crowded area during daytime hours.
