With the arrival of Canada Day on July 1st, the city of Toronto will witness extensive changes to store and service hours. Residents are preparing to celebrate the national holiday with most government institutions and public services closing.
Here are the main highlights of what will be open and closed:
✅ Open:
Some large grocery stores like T&T Supermarket and specific branches of Loblaws and Rabba, with reduced hours.
A limited number of pharmacies affiliated with Shoppers Drug Mart.
Major tourist attractions, including the Toronto Zoo, Ripley’s Aquarium, CN Tower, Canada’s Wonderland, and the Royal Ontario Museum.
Gas stations and small stores in most neighborhoods.
❌ Closed:
Federal and local government offices and postal services.
Most banks and financial branches.
Public libraries.
LCBO and government liquor stores.
The majority of big stores and shopping centers, including Yorkdale Mall and Scarborough Town Centre.
🚍 Public Transport:
TTC service will operate on weekend schedules, while GO Transit will run on a holiday service schedule.
The city authorities have urged residents to check in advance the operating hours of the locations they plan to visit and expect traffic congestion in major event areas.
