The spokesperson for the World Health Organization, Christian Lindmeier, stated that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening daily.
He added during media statements today, Saturday, that the last functioning hospital in the Palestinian city of Rafah was rendered inoperable on May 30.
He explained that there are no hospitals providing health services in the city of Rafah, noting the severe difficulty in accessing the field hospital there due to ongoing military operations.
He confirmed that the health situation in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, with insufficient food, no clean water, no healthcare system, and no fuel to operate essential medical facilities.
He pointed out that military operations are taking place in many areas of the Gaza Strip, including areas previously described as safe zones, but these areas lack many services and facilities.
He noted that the organization is providing support by all possible means, in coordination with authorities and officials regarding efforts to deliver aid to hospitals in Gaza.
He stressed the urgent need to deliver humanitarian aid, especially to areas in northern Gaza, amid the deepening basic needs on the ground.
