The spokesman for the coalition forces in Yemen, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, announced the death of two Saudi officers and the injury of another officer in a "treacherous attack" that occurred inside a coalition camp in the city of Say'un in Hadramout province.
Al-Maliki mentioned in a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the incident took place on Friday evening while the officers were engaged in sports training at the camp, which aims to support the Yemeni legitimate forces in combating terrorism and smuggling, in addition to providing humanitarian and developmental support.
Al-Maliki confirmed that the attacker was a member of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, noting that this person does not represent the values and principles upheld by the personnel of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, who appreciate the coalition's role in supporting legitimacy and alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people.
Al-Maliki added that the bodies of the two officers and the injured were transported to the Kingdom after being evacuated from Yemen, and that the joint forces are working in coordination with the Yemeni Ministry of Defense to follow up on investigations, uncover the motives of the attack, apprehend the perpetrator, and bring him to justice.
