Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune stated in an interview with the French newspaper "L'Opinion" on Sunday that his country will not normalize its relations with Israel before the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The Algerian president emphasized that his country could be ready to normalize relations with Israel on the same day that a Palestinian state is established because "our concern in Algeria is to establish a Palestinian state," as he expressed.

Regarding his country's relationship with France, Tebboune denied any intention of a break, while also confirming that a lot of effort is being made to avoid reaching a rupture between the two countries.

However, Tebboune at the same time described the atmosphere of relations between Algeria and France at the present time as toxic, and that time is being wasted with President Macron, after there were great hopes of overcoming memory disputes.

Relations between the two countries have been strained several times since Tebboune came to power at the end of 2019, against the backdrop of issues of memory, immigration, and recently concerning the Sahara region.

Algeria had recalled its ambassador to France on July 30, following Macron's support for the Moroccan autonomy plan in the Sahara region.
