The Turkish presidency announced today, Monday, an anticipated visit by the Syrian transitional president Ahmad al-Shara to Turkey tomorrow, Tuesday, marking his second international visit since the ousting of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December of last year.
The head of the communications department in the Turkish presidency, Fahrettin Altun, stated on the platform "X": "Al-Shara will visit Ankara on Tuesday at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan."
He said: "The discussions will focus on reviewing the latest developments in Syria from all aspects and assessing the joint steps that the two countries should take for economic recovery, stability, and sustainable security in the country, as well as the support that can be provided to the transitional administration and the Syrian people."
He added: "We believe that Turkish-Syrian relations, which have returned to normal after Syria regained its freedom, will be strengthened and acquire a new dimension with the visit of Mr. Ahmad al-Shara and the accompanying delegation."
This is al-Shara's second foreign visit since he took office as the president of Syria, following his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman yesterday, Sunday, leading an official delegation that included Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani.
Al-Shara discussed with the Saudi Crown Prince extensive future plans in the fields of energy, education, and health, aimed at preserving peace and stability across the entire region and improving the economic situation in Syria.
