Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly confirmed that her country's position on the situation in Gaza has not changed, emphasizing Canada's commitment to a two-state solution that ensures a stable life for both Palestinians and Israelis within internationally recognized borders. Joly clarified, in a post on the “X” platform, that Canada supports the right of Palestinians to self-determination and rejects any attempts to force the residents of Gaza to leave their land.
In contrast, former U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a controversial plan regarding Gaza during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggesting extended American control over the region as part of a reconstruction project to transform it into an economic and tourist center akin to the "Riviera of the Middle East."
He also noted the necessity of relocating the residents of Gaza to neighboring countries, which sparked international criticism and was deemed by international law experts as a blatant violation of Palestinian rights.
