The plan of U.S. President Donald Trump to displace the residents of the Gaza Strip and place it under American control has provoked angry international reactions, with both Britain and France firmly rejecting these proposals.

The British Position:

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the necessity of allowing Palestinians to return to their homes in Gaza, stressing the importance of supporting them in reconstruction and moving towards a two-state solution. Starmer stated before the House of Commons: “They must be allowed to return to their homes. They must be allowed to rebuild, and we must be with them in rebuilding on the path to a two-state solution.”

The French Position:

For its part, France rejected Trump's proposals, considering that the forced displacement of Gaza's residents constitutes a serious violation of international law and undermines the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians. French Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lumouin affirmed that such plans pose a significant obstacle to the two-state solution and destabilize the region, including France's close partners like Egypt and Jordan. Lumouin added that Gaza's future must be framed within a future Palestinian state and should not be subjected to the control of a third state.

These positions come amidst widespread international rejection of Trump's plan, with many leaders and international officials affirming the necessity of respecting the rights of Palestinians to their lands and rejecting any attempts to displace them or impose external control over the Gaza Strip.
