Amnesty International has strongly criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to transfer Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, describing it as a war crime and a crime against humanity. The organization stated that the proposal is “outrageous, shameful, and disgraceful, and constitutes a blatant violation of international law.”

During a recent press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump proposed a plan to control the Gaza Strip after relocating its residents to Jordan or Egypt, both of which rejected the plan.

In a statement, Amnesty International's Secretary General, Agnes Callamard, confirmed that “any plan for the forced deportation of Palestinians outside the occupied territories against their will is a war crime.” She added that “any plan for the forced deportation of Palestinians outside the occupied territories against their will is a war crime, and when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack against civilian populations, it constitutes a crime against humanity.”

The organization also emphasized that President Trump's comments “seriously undermine the dignity of Palestinians who have been victims of the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza over the past 16 months, living for decades under illegal occupation and apartheid.”

It added that most Gazan Palestinians are descendants of survivors of the Nakba of 1948, “who have been uprooted and expelled repeatedly by Israel and deprived of their right to return, yet they continue to struggle to remain on their lands and defend their human rights.”

Trump's remarks about controlling the Gaza Strip sparked widespread condemnation at both the Arab and international levels, as many countries, organizations, and figures expressed their opposition and denunciation of the proposal.

In his plan, which lacks any details on how to relocate over two million Palestinians or control Gaza, Trump stated that “the United States will take control of the Gaza Strip,” which he referred to as “a demolition site.”
