The "New York Times" reported, citing several advisors to U.S. President Donald Trump, that the idea of the United States controlling the Gaza Strip was merely a theoretical proposal not based on realistic foundations or a clear implementation plan. The advisors noted that Trump expected this idea to fade away after realizing its impracticality.

During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump suggested that the United States take control of the Gaza Strip, expressing his vision of transforming it into the "Riviera of the Middle East." His plan included resettling around two million Palestinians living in Gaza to neighboring countries, such as Egypt and Jordan, a proposal that was met with outright rejection from these countries.

These proposals faced widespread criticism from the international community, with the United Nations and some of the United States' allies considering them ethnic cleansing and a violation of international law. Some Republicans in Congress also expressed their reservations, pointing out that this move contradicts Trump's promises to end foreign wars.

In the face of this rejection, U.S. administration officials sought to tone down the statements, clarifying that American intervention in Gaza would be temporary and aimed at reconstruction, with no intention of a long-term occupation or deploying American forces on the ground.

These developments illustrate the challenges and complexities associated with Middle East policies and highlight the gap between political ambitions and the practical reality on the ground.
