The Qatari Foreign Minister and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, affirmed on Sunday the importance of cementing the ceasefire in Gaza and moving forward with the exchange of hostages and prisoners.
Bin Abdulrahman, in a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, called for the commitment of all parties to implement this agreement in all its clauses and to engage immediately in negotiations for the second phase of the agreement and to set an agenda, according to what was reported by the Qatar News Agency.
The Qatari official urged what he called "their partners" in the international community to continue pressuring to ensure the success of the ceasefire negotiations and to emphasize that no party should be allowed to hinder them, so that this irreplaceable window does not close, confirming his country's continued cooperation with Egypt and the United States to ensure the full implementation of this agreement.
He said: "We look forward to intensifying regional and international efforts to provide humanitarian aid and support the United Nations in delivering and distributing aid to all parts of Gaza," stressing the necessity of not hindering the delivery of any type of aid and thwarting all attempts aimed at making Gaza unlivable.
Bin Abdulrahman called for a clear mechanism from the international community and its UN institutions to ensure that this aid reaches those who deserve it and is not obstructed by Israeli forces, as he expressed.
He indicated that this crisis would not be resolved except by ending the occupation and establishing a Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders according to international resolutions, stating: "What we witnessed in the past few days of tragedy and human suffering for our brothers in Gaza is beyond description."
He confirmed that the Palestinian prisoners who were released through the agreement were part of the deal reached by the parties, noting that several countries would host the released Palestinian prisoners.
Regarding recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump about the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, Bin Abdulrahman said, "Qatar's position is firm and clear against the displacement of the Palestinian people," affirming that his country is in contact with the Trump administration, and we hope there won't be issues we disagree on, expressing his optimism in reaching quick positive results to end this war.
