Toronto – Arab Canada News

The freezing rain warning is still in effect in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) this Sunday morning, despite expectations of gradual improvement in weather conditions by noon, according to Environment Canada.

The area experienced freezing rain and ice accumulation overnight and early this morning, causing difficulties in mobility and creating slippery layers on roads and sidewalks, prompting authorities to urge residents to exercise caution while traveling.

Traffic warnings and service suspensions

Local police and transportation companies have issued warnings to drivers, especially in the York, Durham, and Peel suburbs, urging to avoid unnecessary driving, use winter tires, and pay attention to non-functioning traffic signals.

There have also been reports of limited delays in bus and train services due to weather conditions, with no major incidents reported up to the time of publication.

Improvement expected throughout the day

Environment Canada predicts that temperatures will begin to gradually rise throughout the day, leading to melting ice and a reduced risk of slipping, with conditions expected to turn partly cloudy with light rain in some areas by the afternoon.
