Air Canada announced an offer for passengers who have booked flights since the anticipated pilots' strike next month to rebook their travel due to the potential pilots' strike.
The company stated that it has achieved success in its negotiations and hopes to reach an agreement, but it still faces the possibility of a strike by 5,400 pilots starting early on September 17.
The airline pilots' union has not specified a date for the strike, but the pilots voted overwhelmingly to approve a strike mandate, should an agreement on a new contract not be reached.
According to the airline's policy, customers who have tickets for travel between September 15 and 23 can rebook on any other Air Canada flight with the same origin and destination until November 30 without any additional fees.
Change fees will be waived for customers who wish to cancel and rebook their travel after this date, although they will have to pay any fare differences.
Travelers with bookings during the affected period will also have the option to cancel their flight and receive a credit for future travel.
Refunds will be available for customers who have refundable tickets, but Air Canada says that refunds will not be available for those with non-refundable tickets, as the flights are expected to operate normally.
It is worth mentioning that this policy will apply to all flights operated by Air Canada, including mainline Air Canada flights, Air Canada Rouge flights, Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz or Palm Airlines, and Air Canada Vacations.
