A winter storm swept through most of Canada over the weekend, leading to severe weather warnings in various regions, as cold weather continues to dominate Canadians.

Western Canada

In northern Manitoba, such as the areas of Brochet and Tadoule Lake, low temperatures reached -30 degrees Celsius with winds of 10 to 15 km/h, resulting in a wind chill feeling of temperatures as low as -45. This harsh cold is expected to last until Tuesday morning before temperatures begin to rise gradually.

Similar warnings were also issued for northern Saskatchewan, where areas like Fond-du-Lac and Stanley Rapids are experiencing similar cold values.

Eastern Canada

In Newfoundland and Labrador, winter storm warnings were issued with additional snowfall of up to 10 centimeters and high winds reaching speeds of 80 km/h.

In Nova Scotia, snow accumulations are expected to reach 50 centimeters in higher areas, with winds up to 70 km/h, as difficult conditions are set to persist until Monday evening.

Meanwhile, in Prince Edward Island, snowfall is expected to range between 2 and 4 centimeters with winds reaching 80 km/h.

Northern Territories

In areas such as Lutsel K'e and Wek'weeti, cold values reached -50 degrees Celsius, and it is expected to end by Monday morning.

In Nunavut, communities like Chesterfield and Rankin Inlet are facing warnings of cold reaching -55 degrees with winds at 40 km/h.

In Yukon, heavy snowstorm warnings were issued along the Dempster Highway with winds reaching 60 km/h, and winds are expected to calm down by Tuesday evening.

Severe conditions across the southern border

In the United States, states like Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia have experienced snowfall and ice, resulting in government office closures, traffic disruptions, and power outages in many areas.

Severe weather warnings continue to affect daily life across Canada, with forecasts of improved conditions in some areas over the coming days.
