The U.S. military announced that the Yemeni Houthi group launched on Friday, drones and anti-ship missiles, following American and British strikes on their sites in various parts of Yemen.

The U.S. Central Command in the Middle East (CENTCOM) said on X platform that it intercepted four drones launched by the Houthis on Friday, three in the Red Sea and one in the Gulf of Aden, and that a fifth drone crashed in the sea.

The Central Command reported that the Houthis also launched two ballistic anti-ship missiles from Yemen towards the Gulf of Aden without causing any injuries or damage.

The Houthis vowed earlier on Friday to intensify their attacks against ships off Yemen, after American and British strikes on their sites resulted in the deaths of 16 people, according to their statements.

This toll is among the highest announced by the Houthis since the U.S. began in January at the head of a military coalition to launch strikes against their sites to undermine their capabilities to target maritime navigation.

Since November, the Houthis have launched dozens of attacks with missiles and drones against commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, claiming that they are linked to Israel or headed to its ports, emphasizing that this is in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war since October 7.
