The "Al Jazeera" news network reported today, Friday, that an official from the World Health Organization said that 1.2 million doses of the polio vaccine will be delivered to Gaza before the campaign starts on September 1, noting that there are 400,000 doses on the way.

Yesterday, Thursday, a senior official from the World Health Organization said that the Israeli occupation army and Hamas agreed to three separate temporary ceasefires for fighting in specific locations lasting three days in the Gaza Strip to allow for the vaccination of about 640,000 children against polio.

Ric Peppercorn, the World Health Organization representative in the West Bank and Gaza, mentioned that the vaccination campaign is scheduled to start on Sunday, according to what was reported by "Sky News Arabia".

He clarified that the agreement stipulates that the ceasefire periods will be between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. local time, indicating that the campaign will begin in central Gaza with a temporary ceasefire in fighting for three days, then move to southern Gaza, where there will be another ceasefire for three days, followed by northern Gaza.

The World Health Organization confirmed on August 23 that at least one child was infected with type 2 poliovirus, marking the first such case in the region in 25 years for a ten-month-old child in Deir al-Balah, after the virus was detected in water samples collected at the end of June in Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah.
