Local sources reported this evening, Monday, a large fire and thick columns of smoke rising from an area near the building of radio and television in the Syrian capital, Damascus, with no official information available yet about the nature of the explosion or its causes.
Syrian media noted that firefighting teams rushed to the site, while authorities have not yet announced any injuries or additional details.
The area surrounding the building is under security lockdown, amid a state of alert and conflicting reports about whether the explosion was due to sabotage or an accidental incident.
It is worth mentioning that the radio and television building is considered one of the vital facilities in the heart of the Syrian capital, and its surroundings have previously been subjected to several attacks during the years of conflict.
“Arab Canada News” is following the developments and will publish the details as soon as they are released by official sources.
