Palestinian media reported on Saturday evening the martyrdom of Palestinian doctor Hamdi Al-Najjar, the father of the nine children who were killed days ago in an Israeli bombardment that targeted the family home in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.

The martyrdom of his nine children sparked a wide wave of anger and solidarity, after images documented painful scenes of the children's bodies laid side by side in Nasser Hospital in the city, turning the story into one of the symbols of the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in the sector.

In the West Bank, two Palestinian young men were injured, one by live fire from the Israeli occupation forces, and the other as a result of being beaten, during confrontations that erupted east of Jericho.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society, citing the Palestinian news agency “Wafa”, reported that its teams dealt with two injuries near the “Project” area east of Jericho, noting that one of the injuries was due to live ammunition, while the other young man sustained a head injury as a result of an assault. The injured were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The society mentioned that the occupation forces established a military checkpoint in the area and fired live bullets at citizens, assaulting several of them, causing a state of tension and fear among residents.

In a related context, a force from the Israeli occupation army stormed the village of Al-Magheer northeast of Ramallah on Saturday evening, firing sound bombs intensively around citizens' homes, with no reports of injuries or arrests so far.

This escalation comes at a time when Israeli assaults continue in the West Bank and Gaza, amidst international warnings of a worsening humanitarian situation and the continuation of the cycle of violence.
