Saudi Arabia won on Tuesday the hosting of the "International Expo 2030" in Riyadh, after strong competition with Rome, Italy, and Busan, South Korea, witnessed at the "Palais des Congrès" in the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux, near the French capital Paris.
The victory of the Saudi capital came during the first round of secret electronic voting by the 180 member countries of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, which operates on the principle of "one vote per country," after the three parties presented their files for the last time on Tuesday afternoon during the meeting of its 173rd General Assembly.
During the final presentation of its file, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed his country's commitment to its plans to host "Expo 2030" and will turn them into reality, stating that it will present an exceptional version of the exhibition, focusing on sustainable development goals, and launching a set of solutions for the advancement of humanity.
