The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced an important decision that prohibits the use of national, religious, and sectarian symbols for commercial and personal purposes. The decision, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Commerce under the supervision of the Minister of Commerce, Dr. Majid Al-Qasabi, aims to protect the sanctity of these symbols and prevent their exploitation for commercial or offensive purposes. The prohibition includes the use of the Saudi flag, which features the Islamic declaration of faith, along with the slogan of the swords and palm tree, as well as images and names of Saudi leaders.

The ministry clarified that this decision is part of broader efforts to protect national symbols from inappropriate uses or commercial exploitation. Officials mentioned that the prohibition is not limited to the national flag but also includes religious symbols associated with Islam, as well as sectarian symbols that may affect national unity.

The decision includes a grace period of 90 days for companies to adapt to these new rules. After this period, penalties will be imposed on violators under Saudi municipal regulations. This step comes at a sensitive time as the Kingdom seeks to enhance its cultural and religious identity and ensure that national symbols are not used in commercial contexts that may offend their value.

These measures are considered a continuation of previously taken policies to ensure the preservation of the sanctity of national symbols, including the previous prohibition on using the Saudi flag in commercial contexts.
