Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday morning, that a person was killed and another injured after an attacker assaulted pedestrians in central Paris.
The minister wrote: "The police have just bravely arrested an attacker who assaulted pedestrians in Paris, around Grenelle sidewalk. The Paris fire brigade treated one deceased person and one injured person. Please avoid the area."
