Tulkarm - Agencies
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stormed the Tulkarm camp in the West Bank today, Friday, where he announced the intensification of military operations in the area, referring to the implementation of destruction of infrastructure, including roads and homes, as part of what he described as the fight against “terrorism.”
During his visit to the camp, accompanied by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, Netanyahu stated that the Israeli army is carrying out large-scale operations aimed at targeting the infrastructure of armed factions, adding: “We are in the midst of a broad campaign, and we will continue to target anyone who threatens our security.”
These statements come in the wake of explosions targeting buses in the cities of Bat Yam and Holon, near Tel Aviv, on Thursday, with no injuries reported. In response, Netanyahu issued orders to carry out intensive military operations in the West Bank, especially in the northern areas of the West Bank that have witnessed escalating confrontations in recent weeks.
According to local sources, the Tulkarm camp witnessed extensive demolitions during the incursion, affecting homes and infrastructure networks, including electricity, water, sewage, and communications, leading to the displacement of a large number of the camp’s residents. Estimates suggest that about 90% of the camp's residents were forced to leave due to the ongoing military operations.
For its part, Palestinian factions condemned the incursion, considering it part of Israeli escalation policies against Palestinians in the West Bank. Human rights organizations have also called for international intervention to stop what they described as “increasing Israeli violations” against civilian populations.
It is noteworthy that Israeli military operations in the West Bank, especially in the refugee camps to the north, have seen a marked increase since the beginning of the year, resulting in the deaths of dozens of Palestinian martyrs and causing widespread destruction in the targeted areas.
