The "Hamas" movement announced on Friday its agreement to a new proposal presented by the mediators in the Gaza negotiations and expressed its readiness to release the Israeli soldier Eidan Alexander, who holds American citizenship, in addition to the remains of 4 hostages with dual nationality, on Saturday.

Hamas leader Tahir al-Nunu told "Al-Sharq" on Friday that the movement agreed to release the Israeli-American hostage Eidan Alexander and the remains of 4 other hostages with dual nationality, based on a suggestion the movement received from the mediators.

Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif al-Qanou' stated in remarks to "Al-Sharq" that the movement's decision aims to support the completion of the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza at all its stages.

In a statement from "Hamas" on Friday, it was mentioned: "A delegation from the leadership of Hamas received a proposal from the mediating brothers on Thursday to resume the negotiations, where the movement dealt with it responsibly and positively, and submitted its response early today, including its agreement to release the Israeli soldier Eidan Alexander, who holds American citizenship, in addition to the remains of four others with dual nationality."

An informed source within the movement told "Al-Sharq" that new criteria were agreed upon in exchange for the release of soldier Alexander and the four remains, which differ from the first phase, clarifying that "the new key is increasing the number of Palestinian prisoners who will be released in exchange for any Israeli military prisoner."

He pointed out that the proposal calls for "extending the ceasefire for several weeks," noting that "after Hamas's approval, the ball remains in the Israeli court for approval and resuming implementation of the agreement," emphasizing that "Hamas" informed the mediators that this approval is a goodwill gesture and that it is ready to start negotiations for the second phase immediately.

The movement affirmed its complete readiness to start negotiations and reach a comprehensive agreement on the issues of the second phase, calling for obligating Israel to fully implement its commitments.
