U.S. President Donald Trump said that the world will witness an official end to the 12-day war just 24 hours after the recent agreement went into effect, referring to the broad military escalation between Israel and Iran.
Trump confirmed in statements on Sunday evening that “this was a war that could have lasted for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but that did not happen,” noting that U.S. efforts succeeded in stopping the escalation and establishing what he described as a “decisive agreement.”
This statement comes at a time when the region is still experiencing tension, despite signs of cautious calm, amid close international monitoring for any developments that may arise in the coming hours.
