Five people were taken to the hospital after a car collided with a detached house in North York shortly after midnight on Friday, while crews work to contain a natural gas leak in the area.
Emergency crews were called to a complex located just south of Sheppard Street right on Highway 404 after a car crashed into the three-story building.
Paramedics in Toronto told CP24 that they transported five patients to the hospital, one with moderate injuries and four with minor injuries.
Toronto Fire Services say the car struck a gas source causing a natural gas leak. At this time, the complex has been evacuated and gas has been shut off to the affected units.
Toronto Fire said the three people who were inside the car at the time of the collision were out of the vehicle by the time emergency crews arrived.
It is unclear why the car went into the house at this stage.
