The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said today, Tuesday, that Israel must end its occupation of Palestinian territories and compensate for the damages it has caused.

Erdoğan stated in a press conference held with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in the capital Kuala Lumpur that Israel is not fulfilling its commitments related to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized the necessity of establishing an independent, sovereign, and geographically integrated State of Palestine within the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, calling on member states of the "ASEAN" to cooperate in providing the necessary humanitarian assistance for Gaza.

The Israeli army fires almost daily through its drones at Palestinians in various areas of the Strip despite the ceasefire agreement, resulting in casualties and injuries, including children and the elderly, according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency.

Between October 7, 2023, and January 19, 2025, Israel committed acts of genocide in Gaza that left around 160,000 dead and injured Palestinians, most of whom were children and women, and more than 14,000 missing.

The head of the government media office in Gaza, Salama Ma'arouf, confirmed last Friday that despite 20 days passing since the agreement, the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate dangerously due to Israel's procrastination in implementing the agreement.
