The slippery hill in Sarie, British Columbia, was closed to traffic after a series of near-miss accidents during the snowstorm on Wednesday.
Authorities closed the hill at 104th Avenue and 125th Street before 8:30 a.m., encouraging drivers to find another route for their safety.
Earlier, a series of cars, SUVs, and even police vehicles struggled to navigate the snow-covered road, with some drivers crashing into yards and power poles.
Mark, one of the neighbors who came out to watch the chaos, said: "This happens every year." "For drivers, it's bad - but for us, it's great entertainment as we watch 2,000-pound sleds go down the hill."
There were more snow-related problems on the Lower Mainland roads on Wednesday.
A number of buses stopped again, despite TransLink equipping about a third of its fleet - or about 500 buses - with winter tires this year.
The passenger transport provider warned to expect delays and cancellations across the system.
The accidents also caused delays for drivers on many main roads, with incidents reported on the Alex Fraser Bridge and near the Massey Tunnel.
The province urged people to stay off the roads if possible, and there is a warning in effect on Highway 1 from Vancouver to Hope.
A message on the DriveBC website read: "Drivers are advised not to travel unless necessary and only if equipped with winter tires."
