Continuing the search for the kangaroo roaming somewhere in Ontario after escaping from zoo workers from a transport truck on Thursday night.

The marsupial, one of two that were being transported to the Quebec Zoo, "jumped over" the handlers’ heads while escaping from the Oshawa Zoo and Fun Farm.

Cameron Brady, the zoo supervisor, told CTV News on Saturday that they are using drones and thermal imaging technology to sweep the area to find it.

Brady said, "We have about 40 people on our standby list ready to head out as soon as we get a look at this thing." "For now, we don't know where it is, so we are asking the community if you see it, please do not approach the animal."

The kangaroo is not "terribly aggressive," as Brady explained it is female, but he said it will run away if people try to approach it.

"This is really what we don't do. Brady added: "We prefer to just keep our eyes on it so we know where it is, and then we can make a plan based on that situation."

According to the supervisor, the Toronto Zoo is providing assistance as they will provide a tranquilizer gun to subdue the animal once it is found.

Brady said, "If we can see it, and it is in one of the fields, then we will contact the Toronto Zoo," "They will send out someone trained who knows how to use a tranquilizer gun, and if we can get a tranquilizer dart into it and remove it, at least we will know it is safe."

Brady continued: "This is not the ideal situation, but this is what we are actually in, at this stage."

Durham Police said on Friday that the kangaroo was reported missing at about 7:45 a.m. Friday, but responding officers were unable to find the animal and cleared the scene.

"What I can say is that last night, a delivery driver stopped on the way to Quebec with two kangaroos at the Oshawa Zoo to let the kangaroo stretch its legs," Sergeant Joan Portolos said in an email to CTV News.

"Unfortunately, during this break, one of the kangaroos escaped and was seen several times today."

The kangaroo was last seen on Winchester Road, about three kilometers south of the zoo, at around 3 p.m. Friday, where volunteers said they received about 30 sightings of the animal.

Brady asks anyone who sees the marsupial to contact Chelsea’s team at 905-666-4676.
