Strong winds, equivalent to the force of a hurricane, struck the coast of British Columbia in Canada, where speeds reached 159 kilometers per hour, causing widespread damage. The storm that was swirling off Vancouver Island caused several highways to close and left around 225,000 people without power, including in areas of Vancouver Island. Winds recorded more than 100 kilometers per hour in various regions, with noticeable effects on Vancouver Airport.

The Ministry of Transportation reported the closure of several roads due to fallen trees and debris from downed power lines. At the same time, BC Ferries canceled several sailings between Vancouver Island and the mainland due to the storm, warning of further impacts on services throughout the day.

The bomb cyclone, resulting from a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure, is expected to remain offshore but will continue to impact coastal areas until later in the day.
