The United States confirmed today, Monday, that it will use its veto power against any amendments to its draft resolution submitted to the United Nations General Assembly regarding Ukraine, which comes on the occasion of the third anniversary of the outbreak of war between Moscow and Kyiv.
Washington has called on Russia and Ukraine to support its plan to end the conflict, affirming that the draft resolution reflects the international community's stance on the necessity of respecting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The voting in the General Assembly is expected to witness intense debates, especially in light of the disagreements among member states over ways to end the war. The United States aims to pass the resolution without amendments, considering that any change could weaken its diplomatic position regarding the crisis.
This development comes at a time when battles continue on the ground, amidst military escalation from both sides, complicating diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
