Anne A. Janzer, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation, traveled to Canada for a 3-day visit to participate in meetings of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Directors Group and the Nuclear Energy Working Group of the G7.
The U.S. Department of State stated in a press release today, Wednesday, that these meetings aim to strengthen nuclear nonproliferation policies and ensure the implementation of the highest standards of safety, security, and nuclear governance globally.
These efforts come as part of the foreign policy of the U.S. administration, led by President Donald Trump, under the banner of "America First," which focuses on protecting U.S. national security and enhancing cooperation with allies to ensure the control of nuclear materials and prevent the global spread of nuclear weapons.
