Two men were arrested, tear gas was deployed, and the windows of a Starbucks were smashed when protesters marched in The Village neighborhood of Montreal on Saturday night.
Montreal police (SPVM) reported that the march was organized by the organization Rad Pride (Radical Pride FUSTAT VIE).
The protesters marched along Ste. Catherine Street East between Beaudry Street and Papineau Street in Montreal.
Veronique Dubuc, a spokesperson for SPVM, confirmed that a 29-year-old man was arrested for armed assault on a police officer, and a 26-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
Both men were released on the condition that they appear in court; neither officer was injured.
Dubuc added that police used tear gas on some participants in the march.
She stated that no one was arrested for the vandalism at Starbucks and other businesses, but these acts are under investigation.
No protesters or other citizens were injured, according to the police.
