India lodged a protest with Canada over accusations against Indian Home Minister Amit Shah of organizing plots to attack, intimidate, and kill Canadians of Sikh descent on Canadian soil.

This was announced by the official spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, during a press conference, where he said: "We have contacted a representative of the Canadian embassy and expressed a strong protest on behalf of the Indian government regarding the ridiculous and unfounded remarks by Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister David Morrison about the Indian Home Minister."

According to him, senior Canadian officials are "deliberately spreading unfounded insinuations in international media as part of a strategy to tarnish India's reputation and influence other countries."

Jaiswal continued that this "only reaffirms the long-held view of the Indian government regarding the political agenda and behavior pattern of the current Canadian government."

The Indian diplomat emphasized that "such irresponsible actions will have serious consequences for bilateral relations."

David Morrison had stated on October 30 during a hearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Public Safety and National Security that members of the press had previously asked him if he could confirm the involvement of the Indian Home Minister in plots against Sikhs in Canada, to which he responded affirmatively: "Yes exactly, it is this man."
