A 17-year-old young man died after participating in a shootout with four police officers who were responding to a home invasion in Aurora on Wednesday evening, according to the county's police oversight agency.
In an update on Thursday morning, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) stated that the incident occurred outside a residence on Downey Circle just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Special Investigations Unit said the teenager was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
One officer was injured slightly and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
