Kyiv - (Agencies)
The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today, Monday, that sending Canadian troops to Ukraine may be a possibility, but only in the context of a future peace agreement, emphasizing that his country continues to support Kyiv in the face of the Russian invasion.
Trudeau's remarks came during his visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian officials, coinciding with the third anniversary of the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
During the visit, Trudeau announced a new aid package for Ukraine that includes military vehicles and confiscated Russian funds, as part of Canada's ongoing efforts to support Kyiv both on the ground and economically.
The Canadian Prime Minister added that his country will continue to work with international partners to ensure the necessary support is provided to Ukraine, stressing the importance of finding a sustainable diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Trudeau's visit comes amid intense European and international diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine and strengthen sanctions imposed on Russia, as fighting continues on the frontlines.
