Ottawa - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau left today for London to participate in a high-level security summit, at a time when statements by former US President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine are raising increasing concerns among European allies.

The summit comes amid escalating geopolitical tensions, where leaders are expected to discuss ways to enhance security and defense cooperation, in addition to providing sustainable support for Ukraine in the face of ongoing Russian threats. Trump's recent statements, which hinted at a reduction of US support for NATO and Ukraine, are a major concern within European circles, prompting many leaders to emphasize the need to strengthen the self-defense capabilities of alliance countries.

For his part, during the summit, Trudeau seeks to reaffirm Canada's commitment to the security of allies and to support international efforts aimed at stabilizing the region. He is expected to hold discussions with his counterparts on the mechanisms for coordinating military and economic assistance to Ukraine, as well as addressing other security challenges, including cybersecurity and counter-terrorism.

This participation is part of Canada's efforts to enhance its role on the international stage, especially amid the ongoing rising security threats in Eastern Europe. The participating leaders aim to send a clear message regarding the unity of international positions in the face of any threats to global security and stability.
