The Canadian city of Toronto is hosting a unique exhibition of the giant pearl known as the “Giga Pearl,” which is considered one of the largest natural pearls in the world. This exhibition takes place at the Royal Ontario Museum, where the pearl is displayed to the public for the first time since its discovery.

Exceptional Specifications

The “Giga Pearl” weighs approximately 27.65 kilograms (60.95 pounds), is 16.5 centimeters long, and 30.5 centimeters wide, making it one of the largest natural pearls discovered to date. The pearl features a creamy white color and an irregular shape that gives it a unique character.

Discovery and History of the Pearl

This rare pearl was discovered in the Philippines, where it was kept by a local family for over 60 years before being purchased by Abraham Reyes, a Canadian of Filipino descent, in 2016. Since then, Reyes has kept the pearl in his home and recently decided to share it with the public by displaying it in the museum.

Value and Importance Estimates

Although there is no official appraisal of the “Giga Pearl’s” value, experts estimate its worth in the millions of dollars due to its rarity and exceptional size. This pearl is of great significance in the world of gemstones, highlighting the natural diversity and unique beauty that nature can offer.

Opportunity for the Public

This exhibition is considered a rare opportunity for gemstone enthusiasts and nature lovers to see one of the largest pearls in the world. The organizers of the exhibition hope that this event will contribute to raising awareness about the importance of preserving marine resources and biodiversity.

The display of the “Giga Pearl” at the Royal Ontario Museum is for a limited time, and the museum invites visitors to take advantage of this unique opportunity to explore one of nature's wonders.
