Toronto police have charged a man with sexual assault against three young girls near Scarborough Park.

In a statement regarding the incident, police said officers were called to Wexford Park, near Elm Bank Road and Pharmacy Avenue.

Police allege that a woman was in the park with her young daughters at the time and noticed the suspect loitering nearby, then the suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed her arm.

According to police, as the woman left with her daughters, the accused followed them briefly before moving away.

Police also reported that three girls, aged between 10 and 15, were walking in the park when the suspect approached and began talking to them.

Police said the suspect followed the girls through the wooded area to the residential area adjacent to the park, at which point the suspect exposed himself to the girl before sexually assaulting her.

Police reported that a citizen saw the suspect with the three girls and approached them, prompting the suspect to flee, and officers found him shortly after and arrested him.

It is worth noting that police were able to identify the suspect and revealed his identity as Alaa Hijazi, 32, from Toronto, who is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, committing an indecent act in a public place, and breaching a probation order.

It is also noteworthy that security agencies decided that Hijazi would appear in a Toronto courtroom on July 26 for a bail hearing, and no further results have been disclosed as of now.
